Coastal Signs Plus designed, fabricated, and installed the Escondido landmark sign, a custom monument built to give the city a bold new landmark. Working from the initial design concept, our team developed the custom panel patterns, consulted on the lighting, and fabricated a sign designed to stand out day and night.
Laser-Cut Corten Steel Panels
The face of the landmark is wrapped in laser-cut Corten steel panels with a custom pattern developed specifically for this project. The rich, warm tone of the Corten contrasts with the bright white lettering, and the cut-out pattern adds depth and detail that reads from the road and up close.

Custom Perforated Aluminum Backers and Galvanized Steel Frame
Custom perforated aluminum backers sit behind the panel work to add layered dimension, while a galvanized steel frame forms the structure of the monument. The materials were chosen for a permanent outdoor installation that needs to hold up over time.
Internally Illuminated Channel Letters
The ESCONDIDO lettering is built from internally illuminated channel letters with warm 2700K halo lighting. The soft glow around each letter keeps the name of the city clearly readable after sunset while complementing the tone of the Corten.
