ABOUT BLADE SIGNS
A blade sign at its most simple is a sign that extends outward from a building face at a 90-degree angle so that it can be seen by passing traffic. However, there is no standard blade sign. Blade signs vary greatly from simple placards to large intricate lit displays that span multiple stories. While the record of them exists back to the fourteenth century, they were at their heyday for ornateness in the 1930s, and many of the theater, restaurant, and shop signs from that era are considered landmarks today.
